Frequently asked questions
How many questions does the real KNM exam have?
Forty multiple-choice questions with three answers each, in 45 minutes on a computer at a DUO exam centre. You pass with 28 correct answers.
Are these the real exam questions?
No. DUO does not publish past exams and its practice material is copyrighted. Our questions are written by us in exactly the same format, at the same level and covering the same eight themes.
What changed about the exam in 2025?
The KNM exam was updated on 1 July 2025. There is extra attention for women's self-determination and for knowledge of the Holocaust, and questions test knowledge rather than behaviour. Those topics are in our decks.
Can I take the exam more than once?
Yes. Every simulation draws random questions, so you get a different set each time. Questions you get wrong also return in your study sessions.
What other parts does the integration exam have?
Besides KNM you take exams in Reading, Listening, Writing and Speaking, plus the MAP and PVT arranged through your municipality.
